DAY 1 Arrive Cairo and transfer to your hotel.

 

DAY 2 Cairo

 

This morning we explore the ancient treasures of Egypt at the Egyptian Museum.

Look at the golden riches from ancient Egypt. .

 

Later we tour Old Cairo with its history dating back thousands of years.

We visit the hanging church, on the site, where the holy family is said to have lived while in Egypt.

Next we visit Khan El Khalili Bazaar, the oldest shopping center in Egypt. Great bargains can
be had for those who take the time to bargain.

 

Return to the hotel. The rest of the evening is free. (Bed and Breakfast)
 

 

 

 

DAY 3 Cairo

 

Today we tour the mysterious Sphinx, the Great Pyramid of Khufu, Khafre, and Menkaure with their many secrets and the other monuments that make up the Gaza complex.

For those who wish to enter the Great Pyramid an optional tour is available.

We will visit the Museum of the Solar Boat  For the daring a camel ride is available. Our visit ends with a breath taking desert view of the pyramids.

Next, we tour Memphis the the ancient capital of Egypt and the Saqqara Necropolis. Here we explore the first pyramid built in Egypt,  We explore the Tombs of the Nobles, the pyramid of  Teti. Next we tour the Pyramids of Dashaur. These are the first true pyramids. Return to Cairo and board the sleeper train to Luxor. B&D.


 

 

  

DAY 4  Luxor and Nile cruise

 

This morning transfer to your Nile Cruise ship .

This afternoon we see the stunning monuments of Karnak Temple,

and  Luxor Trmple.
(Optional evening tour). sound and light show at Karnak or enjoy the luxury of the ship.

Today  we sail past  white-clad farmers with their donkeys, camels, and water buffaloes working lush green fields; and ever present on the horizon beyond the palm trees, the desert We arrive at Edfu Temple and tour this magnificent structure. We sail to Edfu and dock for the night. Enjoy the ship;s entertainment

DAY 6 Nile Cruise

 

Early breakfast, Board a horse-drawn carriage for the Temple of Horus,  with its menacing black stone statue of the falcon god. Built in the time of Cleopatra about 2,000 years ago, it is recent by Old Egyptian standards and beautifully preserved.

After We continue sailing,  and dock in front of Kom Ombo Temple to tour this temple dedicated to the crocodile and falcon gods. Return to the boat and sail to Aswan.

DAY 7 Aswan/Abu Simbel

 

This morning there is an optional tour of  Abu Simbel. Visit the twin temples of Ramses II and his queen Nefertari with their facades of colossal statues.

Fly back to Aswan. This afternoon we take an  excursion to the turn-of-the-century Old Dam, to this day the widest dam in the world, and the gigantic Aswan High Dam completed in 1970. then drive to see the famous, Obelisk Quarry to see how the obelisks of Egypt were made. Next we tou The Philae temple to many the most beautiful temple in Egypt.  
In the late afternoon, special board a felucca and sail right across the blue waters of the river. En route see the ancient “nilometer” on Elephantine Island, Kitchener Island's lush Botanical Garden, and the splendid Aga Khan Mausoleum on the left bank.
Rest of the night at leisure to enjoy the lovely Aswan market. Overnight in Aswan.

DAY 8 Luxor

 

 

 

                                     TOMB PAINTING, VALLEY OF THE KINGS

 

 This morning we fly to Luxor and check into the four stars Mercure Hotel.

Today we travel to the West Bank, where we see monuments from the New Kingdom.

We tour the Colossi of Memnon , the Temple of Hatshepsut, which has hieroglyphs telling of the Queen’s magnificent reign. Next we explore the Valley of the Kings and visit four of the best tombs. 
View the solid gold coffin that still holds the body of Tutankamem. Next we tour the Valley of the Queens. Return to the hotel. The evening is free.  (B&B)

 

 

DAY 9 Luxor

 

 

 

 

                                    THE RAMESIUM, LUXOR

 

Free day for you to explore what you wish. We can return to the West Bank to explore additional sites of your choice.
You can tour more tombs in the Valley of the Kings. Tour the Ramesseum, the Temple of Ramesses the Great,
The village of the Artisians, Tombs of the Nobels, Just tell us which. You may wish a general tour of Luxor. There is much to see. There is the Luxor Museum with its collection of New Kingdom Artifacts. There is the bazaar with everything for sale and more. It is your choice. This evening we board the sleeper train to Cairo.  (B&D)

DAY 10 Alexandria

 

 

 

                                TURKISH FORT AND HARBOR, ALEXANDRIA

 

This morning we arrive in Cairo and drive to Alexandria.
We tour the Greco-Roman Museum, Alabaster Mosque, Catacombs, Pompey’s Pillar, Turkish Fort, and New library, which is a reconstruction of the ancient library of Alexandria destroyed in cc 50 BC. Drive back to Cairo, then check into hotel. B&B

 

 

DAY 11 Saint Catherine's Monastery

 

 

 

                        SAINT CATHERINE'S MONASTERY

 

Today we drive to Saint Catherine’s Monastery. With its large collection of illustrated manuscripts, history and beautiful setting it is often called the undiscovered jewel of travel. Check into the Morgenland Hotel. The evening is free. B&D.

 

 

 

 

DAY 12 Saint Catherine's Monastery and Taba

 

For those who wish there is a very early wake up call to climb Mount Sinai by camel or donkey. However, once you reach the top there are still 700 stairs to climb. This is where Moses received the Ten Commandments. Return to the hotel and tour Saint Catherine's Monastery.

Later we drive to Taba and check into the Hotel. B&B

 

 

DAY 13 Petra

 

Today we take the ferry to Aqaba, Jordan, drive to Petra, Jordan and tour this magnificent site. Once a great commercial empire Petra was Lost to history, rediscovered in the 19th century and today is known as the location of the Indiana Jones Movie “The Last Crusade”.

 

 

                   THE TREASURY, PETRA, JORDAN

 

We return to Aqaba, Jordan and take the ferry back to Taba, Egypt where

we return to the Taba Hotel. The evening is free. B&B

 

Petra by Ferry Royal Yacht Club
06.00 Pick you up from your hotel in TABA in the early morning,

07.30 Dock to take the Ferry boat,

08.00 sail to cross the gulf of Aqaba from Taba to Aqaba - Jordan,

arrives at 09.15 a.m.

09.30 Drive to Petra by bus., where a 2-3 hour guided tour begins

then back to Aqaba,

Return to Taba around 20:30, drive back to your hotel

 

 

DAY 14 Cairo

 

After breakfast we drive to Cairo and check into the Oasis Hotel. The rest of the day is free. We can make suggestions. B&B

 

 

DAY 15 Home

 

After breakfast, you will be met by R.  S. HORUS Tours USA’s representative in Egypt.
