1. DAY 1 ARRIVE CAIRO
Upon arrival in Cairo, You will be met by R. S. HORUS Tours USA’s
representative in Egypt and transfer to the Hotel Oasis for overnight. The
rest of the evening is free.
DAY 2 CAIRO – This morning you tour of the Pyramids, Sphinx, and monuments on
the Gaza Plateau. You may enter the great Pyramid if you wish or you may visit
the Solar Boat Museum. Next we drive to and
tour Memphis, the ancient capital of Egypt. We continue on to the Saqqara
Necropolis and explore the Step Pyramid, the first one built by the Pharaoh
Djoser. We explore the Tombs of the Nobles. and the pyramid of Unus or Teti.
Find Out why these tombs of such great importance in the historyof
Egypt. Return to the hotel. B&B
DAY 3 CAIRO -You tour the Egyptian Museum. Tour gallery after gallery of
treasures of ancient Egypt. Later you visit the Khan-El-Khalili Bazaar, the
oldest shopping market in Egypt. It was founded in the 14th century and with
its thousand shops and labyrinth of streets it is worth the tour and is great
for last minute shopping. Next we tour Old Cairo with its unique history going
back thousands of years. We transfer to railway station for the sleeper train
to Luxor B&D
DAY 4 CAIRO/LUXOR
We arrive in Luxor and board our cruise ship. Today we explore the famed
Temple of Karnak, by far the largest ancient temple still standing. We wonder
at how the ancient engineers built. Next we travel to the Temple of Luxor. In
the same way as at Karnak, generations of pharaohs added to this complex. Both
temples are among the finest examples of architecture from the New Kingdom.
NILE CRUISE B.L.D
DAY 5 LUXOR/EDFU
Today we tour the West Bank with its magnificent examples of New Kingdom
architecture. We tour the Colossi of Memnon, actually Amenhotep 111, the
Temple of Hatshepsut, with its three terraces and relief covered walls that
tell the story of the Queen's magnificat reign. We explore the Valley of the
Kings where the pharaohs of the New Kingdom were buried..View the King
Tutankamen at rest in his solid gold sarcophagus. Later we relax in the luxury
of our cruise ship as we sail Edfu and dock for the night.
NILE CRUISE B.L.D
DAY 6 EDFU/KOM-OMBO
After breakfast we tour the Temple of Edfu the best preserved temple
in Egypt. We return to the ship and sail to Kom-Ombo and tour the temple with
its remarkable architecture. We dock for the night. NILE CRUISE B.L.D
DAY 7 ASWAN
We sail to Aswan. After breakfast we sail by felluca (typical Nile sailboat)
to view the botanical gardens on Kitchener Island. Next we view the mausoleum
of the Aga Khan. We tour the Aswan High Dam, and the obelisk quarries. Next we
tour the beautiful Temple of Philae. You might want to take an
optional tour to Abu- Simbel to see the rock temples of Ramesses the
Great. These temples must be seen to be appreciated. Later we board the
sleeper train Cairo Breakfast lunch and dinner
SLEEPER TRAIN B.D.
DAY 8 ALEXANDER
We drive to and tour Alexandria. We tour the catacombs, Pompeii's Pillar, the
Greco-Roman Museum, the Turkish fort and the New Library which is a recreation
of the Old Library which was destroyed in cc 50 BC. Return to Cairo and the
hotel. B&B.
DAY 9 CAIRO/JFK
We transfer to the Cairo Airport for our flight home. B
